Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small community located on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. A lot of people who aren't aware of the name mistakenly believe that they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is the West Island includes everything westward of that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel's hometown is often referenced, however her brief stay wasn't. Brugel developed on Courtice just outside Oshawa within Ontario. When she was a child, she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected increase in her height made it difficult. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed that she wore heels and was six feet and one inch tall. When I outgrew my male friends, I quit. A lot of former dancers go on to act. In the case of Brugel, it was the encouragement from her drama teacher at high school that led her in the direction she wanted. It was the teacher who recommended she go after a role in the school's annual production. After a few auditions her options, she was eventually the leading lady in Anne of Green Gables. This led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned an Associate in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Over the last 20 years, her work has been featured on both the large and small screen. She gained the most attention when she won her character of Rita on the award-winning TV series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel appeared only on rare occasions in the first season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. She was the only Canadian participant.
